OK, this is the first time in a long while since I've been on a "real" computer with a full size keyboard and a fast connection and better yet, it's OUR computer at HOME! Excuse the caps, but there is no italicizing on Facebook. Carter and Claire are sleeping upstairs. The only sad thing is that Sarah and William aren't here.
Poor Sarah is sick of being in the hospital and getting poor sleep. Of course our parents and I have been giving her breaks by staying with him, but she's taken the majority of nights herself as a mother is apt to do in a situation like this.
Right now William is in the ICU at Kaiser (the ICU houses the PICU patients until the new hospital opens up). He is in very stable condition but requires one-on-one nursing care because he still has a lot going on. Right now the main concern continues to be his stomach which simply isn't working. He cannot hold down any significant quantity of solid food or liquids. He sure wants to eat and drink, but it inevitably ends up coming back. Thank goodness it's not acidic or he'd have some serious esophageal damage.
We received some good news today regarding his GI (gastrointestinal tract): his new surgeon told us that he can get his...I never remember the word for this...surgery to "put his insides back inside" sooner than we thought. Rather than 2 months, maybe 6 weeks. Then again, we were told 2 months about a month ago, so I suppose that's about right. :)
At this time we wish to express our thanks to God for granting us so many blessings. We also thank all of you for your petitions on our behalf and the many ways in which generosity has been poured out upon us. Between our family, friends, co-workers and even complete strangers, we have never felt alone throughout this process. Sure, there were some very dark moments in which we faced our worst fears in silence and isolation, but those were short lived and thanks to our faith, family and you, our friends, we never lost track of the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel.
It would take a long time to detail all the ways people have helped us, and I am sure that will continue, so suffice to say that we feel eternally indebted to all of you and I hope to have better and better news as the weeks come rolling by.
Much love from Team Todd!
