Our Little Big Guy is Doing Good

So I just spoke with Sarah and I personally just really feel like things have turned the corner. Yes he is still in ICU and yes things are still pretty critical, but really things are looking much much better.

His white blood count is actually where it needs to be finally! This basically means that the infection is gone. The fact that his little body has fought this off is GREAT news!  It SHOULD all be better from here.

His kidney #'s are still not where they need to be, but they are functioning.  He had his pic line removed and now is urinating in his diaper. So YES the PEE PARTY is ON!!!!!! (Yep totally used yellow!)
Good news is long term he probably will NOT need dialysis any longer.  At this point he MAY need to go in monthly to get blood work, take medication, and continue to monitor the use or function of his kidneys.  But hopefully they will continue to get better and he will not need to do this, but we will just have to wait and see.  The doctors are predicting a 100% recovery for our little guy, so we are just still praying and hanging on throughout this fight which will continue to happen over the next few months.  They also believe he may need physical therapy and may need to learn a few things all over again (walking, talking, etc). They don't know to what extent yet, but because he is so young, he should easily pick up where he left off soon enough.

Emotionally he is doing much better. They are still working on the medications (or the lack thereof) but he is doing much better and coherent without so many.  His Uncle E (Sarah's brother Eric, whom William loves and resembles quite a bit) came to visit him and Sarah said he just got so happy when he recognized him and gave a huge smile.  That is a great milestone for us as a family to see him responding and reacting. He is uncomfortable and in pain, so he is trying to get the comfort he needs, so Sarah & Dan have worked hard to have someone with him almost constantly.  Tomorrow Boppie (my dad) will be with him while Sarah comes with Hayley & I to take the other kids for an LA outing, and to get a little break.

So things are really looking much better, but keep the prayers coming!  We love you all, thank you SO much for the support!
