CT scan revealed a large amount of fluid in Williams' abdomen which is likely infectious and a result of the perforated bowel and subsequent surgical operation. This means that soon (tomorrow morning probably) they'll use image guidance to insert a needle and drain the abscess with the hopes of decreasing any further complication.
What does this mean for his recovery? It's hard to say. While it's not good, it's also not something that unexpected due everything he's been through. So after they drain it, it'll be a matter of time to just wait out the infection and let the antibiotics and his own antibodies fight it. In many ways this is a positive development. Since his white blood cell count is up quite high, if they hadn't found something, especially something for which they have a solution, it would have been worse.
