Sarah just sent me a sweet note and a great update, so thought I would just copy and paste and share it with you all (much more complete than I can typically give you).
Today is another watch and wait day. His white count is back down to 28,000 but his platelets and CPK are more elevated. The surgeon said when you look at all three numbers it means he is the same.
This morning William cried to get out of bed. I picked him up and he looked out the window, pointed and said, "dis." I was so happy to see him lucid! Unfortunately, he hasn't done more of that today. They cut down a little more on the Ativan to decrease his sleepiness. His fabulous nurse and I gave him a bath, which he wasn't too happy about. I held him for a long time in the chair and we took a nice nap together:)
In the morning, he is going to have a PICC line placed (peripherally inserted central catheter). It is so they can take out the central line in his groin. PICC lines can be left in longer and have lower risk of infection. He will be sedated for the procedure.
We are definitely at a holding point with recovery. Our nurse said, "we are waiting for him to decide which corner he will turn." He is at the point that he can get better or worse but is just holding steady. We will watch and wait and be comforted knowing that God has a plan for William and we can accept that plan whatever it may be. We are also truly strengthened by the outpouring of love!!
Sarah
Not everyone finds an epiphany in tragedy. For some, it is not a sign of God's plan but proof God has forsaken them. For others, it's a new found path to prayer.
Keep up faith!
ReplyDeleteI don't have the faith anymore to offer you prayers, but I would love to help in some way. Money, Time, you name it. Your story has touched me. I send my love. Please contact my wife Heidi if there is something we can do to help. Please.
