I often feel like I am bugging people with so much information, so I didn't get a huge update yesterday, so I just decided to wait to post, UNTIL I got about 4 text messages, 3 phone calls, and 5 people asking in person WHAT was going on and WHAT is the update and WHY I hadn't posted, so I apologize and will try to continue to keep you all appraised as things change or progress.
As of yesterday Danny told me that the psychiatrists are working with him on getting new medications (this has been very difficult for our little guy, Sarah's worried (and teases about having a drug addict at 16, because all the issues he is having now with his meds) so they are trying another new med to calm him down and "lift his spirits" with the express purpose of weaning him off the current heavy sedatives and pain killers. This should help him psychologically (funny to think this way with a 16 month old, but as true as ever) since he is very delirious.
No news on his infection, so still just waiting.
Kidney function is also still unknown. We know his kidneys are working enough to allow him to urinate (Yippee!) BUT neprologist told us that they are not functioning well enough to the clear the toxins which are building up. That's the reason they cant do a CT scan again like they'd want to, his little body cant handle the contrasts (dyes) they add, which need to be filtered by his kidneys.
So he sleeps and is delirious and occasionally wakes up screaming and confused, so it's just hard to see him still so uncomfortable. So Sarah has been at his bedside everyday, while Danny is now back to work, then commuting back to LA everyday after work, then leaving again each morning. He hasn't complained about it yet, but I know this whole ordeal has been emotionally & physically exhausting for the whole family, and that just adds extra exhaustion.
We continue to thank you for the prayers.
Heidi,
ReplyDeleteDon't think that you are ever bugging any of us with information or any update on your family. We are all here praying for Will and love to hear any information you are willing to put out there.
Thank you again for all the updates. We know this is no easy task for you either.
Many prayers,
Shelley Housen Carter and family
