Latest update and pictures

Now they are doing hemo dialysis which means they have a catheter running down his jugular vein in his throat and the blood actually goes into a machine and is dialysis's.  (They have a PD dialysis catheterized??)
From what I understand, Sarah only gets to hold him about once a day, and I know this is their most special time of day!

Danny said, "Will's surgeon (rags to riches type story)...he's amazing and humble and was so kind to us"

Danny also wanted me to be sure to clarify (due to the already overwhelming generosity & support of friends) that they are not in desperate need for money, and because they have insurance (thank goodness) their medical bills have not been horrible, nor do they plan to be. But like I said they will have copays and coinsurance's and it is the day to day costs that are adding up such as food, gas, etc.  (being away from home is much more expensive for this typically thrifty family). The Ronald McDonald home is not free (which I thought it was), but it is very minimal (about $30 a day) but they will only be allowed to stay there for 28 days.  So any little amount to help pay for some of these type of expenses really helps, just releases some stress for them.  They also told me Sarah is not planning on going back to work, regardless of what the financial risks this may take. She feels it is what she needs to do to be with him constantly at this time.

THANK you to those who have already so generously donated and THANKS again and always for the prayers!

  1. Heidi, Thank you for doing this to keep their friends and family informed and taking a load of Dan. Our ward is praying for them and doing what we can to help (University Heights ward) you know they are family to us here. I'm as concerned for Dan and Sarah as I am for Will I know how difficult this can be, I have a Granddaughter 18 months old and she was born 3 months early only a pound and half, it was very hard on all the family because they are so far away she was so tiny and she had to fight so hard just like Will. Anyway, I'm trying to say I hope Dan and Sarah take time to keep themselves healthy too Please let us know if there's anything we can do (house, laundry, etc...)

  2. Yes - thank you soooo much for keeping us all informed. Dan & Sarah were in our Colton ward and we LOVE them. Are they opposed to having visitors? Is there anything we can do to help with Carter or Claire? Please give them our love. Our hearts & prayers are with them. Ranelle Curtis

  3. I was so comforted to read about Will's surgeon, Dr. Ford and see that his area of expertise is exactly what Will is sick with right now. He It sounds like he's the best out there and I am so grateful that little Will can have the best care possible. What a blessing to know that. It sounds like they are just as kind and compassionate as they are highly skilled and I am so grateful for that too.
