Moving the entire hospital this morning! Ugh.

William will be on the news..tune into Chanel 7 abc @ 10:50 am this morning

YESTERDAY:
Danny: Mr Ford just came to pay little Willy a visit.

Sarah: Nice. :)  I just read the article about him.

Danny: His analysis: Will is less swollen than he expected him to be, the fluid in the ostomy indicates things are going well inside.  He said Will's just a little fighter.  He also indicated he believes in God. So cool.

Danny's update on FBAnother long day, time is a blur....no pee. :( He's still stable though :)  But thank you to everyone for kind words, PayPal donations, food, lawn care, deep cleaning the house, offering places to stay out here...I could go on and on. It really does make this easier and initially I didn't think anything could. We hope to pay this forward some day. Let's get Baby Willy better first though!!
William is being taken off dialysis temporarily to see if his kidneys will kick in. It's go time! If they don't, he'll go back on. I am in here alone and thought I'd post a quick update.

Update on the situation:
Sad how many tubes and machines there are...he started waking up a lot, which is a good sign, BUT he starts getting really upset and trying to pull out his breathing tube which he can't since he's restrained and then he's just confused and sad. To combat this they have to give him more pain meds and sleepy medicine (versed).

Other than that, the big challenge right now is keeping all of the various chemicals in balance within his tiny body. His potassium was down quite low today, so they add it to the dialysis machine.

The most important thing at this point is getting this e coli 0157 to die so we can see if his kidneys start back up again. Really, it comes down to him being able to urinate. Once he can do that, he'll begin to recover to the point he'll come home. The sad and difficult part will be the fact that he'll have the ostomy bag (the little bag his poop will go into until his next surgery) attached to him and they told us that kids don't like those but I know William will despise it. He's just such a busy little guy. What makes it even more difficult is that Sarah has always said she always feels really bad for people who have to have one of those for many reasons (Sarah is a nurse, if you didn't know that yet), most of which you can imagine and now her baby boy will have one! :(

We're all just holding out hope for a near full recovery. Now that he's lost about half of his lower intestine, he obviously can't make a "full recovery" in the true sense, but Dr. Ford, upon being asked about Williams chances to lead a "normal life" remarked, "Well, he can still become the President." He paused and added, "Actually, he can do better than that."  :)

TODAY:
William is at: Children's Hospital Los Angeles (International Leader in Pediatrics)

and today they are transferring to a new facility.  He is being transferred to the new hospital this morning. Yes during Carmageddon.

"The emergency department isn't the only thing moving Sunday morning, the staff will also be moving hundreds of patients from the old hospital tower to the newly-built Anderson Pavilion."

  1. Hi Heidi, my name is Kristin and I work with Daniel. Thank you for keeping everyone posted on Williams progress as I know this is very hard for your family. I would like to do anything I can in helping the Todd family and I wanted to know if they need much more assistance financially with their stay and anything else pertaining to William. My sister works in PR and we could really get this going if it is something that is a need. Please let me know if I can do anything. As always I am praying for William.
