Pee Party Wanted?!

Danny was able to get on FB a lot today so this update may be a semi-repeat for some of you...

Danny, "Another blur of a day. No kidney function has returned and the reality that this is going to be a long process and that life must go on is starting to set in. The new hospital room feels foreign since we got used to the "cave" (the old room which had no windows)".
William's kidney's did not kick in yesterday when he was off the dialysis machine, so he is back on dialysis today but that's OK because he is getting mire calories he needs. His heart rate is finally down significantly (132 right now) and the lowest since they have gotten in the hospital. The most important thing is that there aren't any big signs that the other portion of his lower intestine is necrotic (dead) but we won't really know until he goes into surgery again in a few months.
The news I reported on yesterday (They also found a different (more rare) type of e. Coli while doing the surgery which they are still waiting for more information on) was incorrect (sorry, guess this is why I never ended up a reporter) but correctly, it was a type of strep, another infection...and one most of us have had in our throat/lungs, but they found his down inside his gastrointestinal tract. They're now leaning toward a diagnosis of atypical HUS rather than just a basic strand of HUS. They will send cultures to a special lab in Texas to find out more (at this point that matters more for academic reasons than for Williams health...the antibiotics are working on both infections)

For those who have asked, here is our current mailing address (hospital):
William (Sarah) Todd
c/o Ronald McDonald House- Staff
1250 Lyman Place Los Angeles, CA 90029

GOAL:
Sarah said her goal is to have a P (Pee) Party. Once William can pee on his own then we will have a "P" party. Pizza, popcorn, peanuts, pop (yes my mom still totally calls it pop), Popsicle's, etc. So now the cousins and siblings are really pulling for the PEE PARTY!

  1. A Pee Party! That sounds absolutely fabulous!

I've been thinking a lot today about how I used to care for Will during the second hour of church while Danny and Sarah tended to their callings. Will is such a special boy. One of my favorite memories is of trying to quiet him to sleep--Sarah gave me her sling to try, and eventually Will nodded off. My children are teens now, and we certainly don't expect to have more, so the time I had to care for such a precious boy was/is so much appreciated.

I love and pray for the Todds and the Carters, and pray for the families, Will, and his medical teams continually.
