So two steps forward, one step back...
Will is back to a
state of serious concern. The nurses were very concerned that the infection appears to be doing damage inside him but there's just not enough evidence to justify any serious interventions at this point. The x-rays have not shown anything, but still it seems something is amiss, and the CT scan is just so much more intrusive, they need more evidence before they go ahead again. Danny & Sarah say, "it seems like he is in pain and it feels like we are back to a week ago". The just have to WAIT and watch him carefully.
They did not do the dialysis today because his kidneys are working, but they still are not clearing everything so they are trying to wait for them kick in and do their job. He got another full body blood transfusion and his abdominal incision opened up more, and new medicine was ordered for that. He for sure seems drugged from the ativan but still is waking up crying, and in pain, so this has been a constant struggle trying to find the balance here.
Dr. Ford, Will's surgeon, came back and assessed Will and has some concerns regarding his distended (swollen) belly. He has called for further imaging and we hope it's just air trapped inside and not further intestinal damage. The NG tube might be going back in. :( Hopes are high after a positive day yesterday.
